The actor was nominated five times for Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor In a Drama Series (1980-1988) in the 1980-88 season, and was awarded the Emmy Award in 1985. From 2010 until 2010 Selleck has played New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. Since 2005, he has been playing Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief in small-town New York City. In addition, he has played in nine television films that are based on Robert B. Parker novels. Selleck has also played the part as Peter Mitchell, a bachelor architect, in Three Men and a Baby (1987), and Three Men and a Little Lady (90). In addition, he has appeared in over 50 different film and television roles since Magnum, P.I., including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He was a frequent TV actor in the roles of Monica Geller's lover Dr. Richard Burke, on Friends; Lance White, the attractive, unassuming friend, in The Rockford Files; and as A.J., the casino owner.
